Environmental sustainability: Herd management practices: Unproductive cattle
Description
This indicator refers to the average period from one calving to the next in the dairy herd. Longer calving intervals increase the unproductive period of dairy cows, which is associated with avoidable environmental costs of feeding and maintaining unproductive animals. This indicator is based on technical information from Pellerin et al. (2013).
